D.I.Wire Plus

How is the D.I.Wire Plus different from the D.I.Wire V1?

With all new software, you now have more control and improved accuracy. Bend repeatable, smooth shapes in Script Mode, and perfect your output with the Action List in Path mode.

What software programs have been used for designing wire objects?

Wireware works like a printer driver. Any software that outputs SVG files can be used to create shapes. We use Adobe Illustrator, but any CAD can create 2D files that can convert to SVG.

Why isn’t there a 3rd axis on the
D.I.Wire Plus?

3D curves are not possible to bend with this style machine without the wire intersecting the machine or table during the bend process. Even for curves that are possible, many will sag or twist under their own weight, which throws off shape. This is also why most production wire forms are flat curves assembled into 3D shapes. 3D software is more expensive and has a steep learning curve as compared to 2D software.

What wire sizes can I use with the Plus?

The Plus has hardware that can accommodate wire with 1/8" (3.18mm) and 1/16" (1.6mm) diameters. It is best to stay close to those sizes, but wire that is slightly smaller than those specs can work as well. The Plus cannot handle larger than 1/8" (3.18mm) materials-- try the Pro for more size capabilities.
